Once this new problem had arisen I knew it would be time to upgrade the weak components on the car. The way in which BMW built the 335i I knew I would have to change everything on the car that was plastic, unknown to me there will be another issue that pops up before I could do any of that.
Driving it home one day I realised the ride was extremely bouncy, from this I knew my shocks where finished. So I started looking for new suspension and found h&r monotube coilovers. Including fitting they came to £1300 but in the fitting, I found another issue with the lower rubber where it had perished and was covered in oil from the shocks. so, all in all a £1500 repair. I still had this boost issue than needed sorting, so what did I do? that right I bought m3 control arms and some new vaccum pipes lol.
With this boost leak still causing an issue I decided about a year later to finally sort it out. so, whilst searching for new boost solenoids which actually was the issue, I ended up buying a new phoenix racing charge pipe, bms oil catch can, vrsf down pipes, m turbo inlets, bms dual cone filters, a new valve cover gasket, g plus intercooler, turbosmart recirculating blow off valves, and finally two brand new BMW boost solenoids.
Finally, I had the parts that not only will remedy the issues I already had, but remedy issues that hadn’t arisen yet. It also allowed for one more thing ......... Power!!!!! (in my best Jeremy Clarkson voice).
So, I kindly sent my car and all the parts to a really good mechanic called praks in north west london. He set to work on not only all the parts I had given him but also an oil and brake service.
This issue of power meant I had to remap my car to get all the parts to work, enter MHD!!
Picking the car up I purchased mhd on an android device and proceeded to map it to stage 2 as my intercooler had not been fitted yet for me to go to stage 2+.
My gosh the car was completely different animal acceleration was savage! it almost scared me. but now I’m used to it I love it all that extra power and torque making I dramatic difference I estimate my car is between 380-390 bhp with what I have on it now but once my inter coller and front inlet go on I reckon I’ll be closer to 420-430hp.
Having gone to Santa pod it left me wanting even more power and as luck has had it I got a little phone call with some news which will change the game with my car.
I began to think that my car is in need of a visual boost and looked into new wheels, to be precise 20inch wheels. i evenetually settled for quantum 44 ssf-2 in 8.5 at the front and 10 inches at the back to keep the handling balance of the original staggered setup. I have stored them and will probably put these on nearer to bimmerfest 2019.
I also have a carbon rear diffuser, m3 power fold mirrors, carbon grills and carbon badges to go on. The ultimate aim is to make it a show and go car.
now to find a daily car lol!
